About us

The Rice Wine Club exists so you can read a bottle of Japanese rice wine before you drink it. Wine has databases that track every producer and plot, and merchants who lean on them. We do the same for sake: our shelf is built on a brewery catalogue maintained with the breweries themselves, and we pass on what each maker wrote.

Where the data comes from

Bottle facts reach us through a licensed brewery catalogue API. A bottle appears here only while its brewery has both confirmed the content and agreed to be listed.

Our listing rules

• A bottle needs its brewery's consent before it goes up.
• Withdraw that consent and the bottle leaves our shelf at the next sync. We do not keep showing it.
• Bottles are sorted by name only. Placement is never sold.
• The catalogue carries no photography, so we set each label's name as type instead.
• The catalogue carries no prices. Every dollar figure here is ours.
• Names, regions and tasting notes arrive in Japanese. The English is our translation, shown next to the original.
• Stock can move between browsing and checkout, so we re-check every cart before taking an order.

Shipping, duties and the legal bit

• Flat $14.00 per order, free over $250.00. Unpasteurised (nama) bottles ship cold at no extra cost.
• Prices exclude import duty and local tax, which the recipient pays.
• You must be of legal drinking age where you live — 21 in the United States, 18 in the UK, EU and Australia. We confirm at checkout and again on delivery.
• Alcohol is not for anyone who is pregnant. Never drink and drive.
• This is a sample store. Nothing is sold, no payment is taken and nothing ships. Selling alcohol for real needs a licence in every destination.
